How Big Is Your Video Game Collection?

Currently my collection in my Steam library is at 67 games. No, I have not yet played all of them and I also didnu2019t really pay full price for all of them. Some were free, back when HumbleBundle would give away a free game, or package of games, for free at least once each month (apparently theyu2019ve begun doing this again since the 14th of march of this year).

Fanatical also offered some free game downloads that Iu2019ve taken advantage of. Most of the games in my Steam library were purchased at a discount, if not all (I never buy a game at release to give time for the developers to fix bugs and to allow time for a price drop). My PS4 game collection is hovering at around 15 games (Iu2019ve let friends borrow some so my count could be one or two off), including two digital purchases where the digital version of the game was cheaper than the physical copy (Final Fantasy XV and MGS V: The Phantom Pain).

My PS3 game collection is around 7 or 8 titles now since Iu2019ve tried to sell them off because my console was stolen during a break-in.My PS2 game collection is between 15 and 20 games; if I include PS1 titles that I own and play on the PS2 the number goes up to between 18 and 23 (Final Fantasy VII, The Legend of Dragoon & Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action). So, considering everything I can currently account for, the total number of games that stretches over four, or five, generations of consoles and PC games, Iu2019m counting at least 107 games.

Is eBay the best way to sell your old stamp collection?

Is it yours because you collected it? Or is it yours by inheritance?

If you are the collector, you have a rough idea of how much you paid for your stamps at full retail , including stores, shows, bourses and auctions. And you know that you wonu2019t get that much back because stamp collecting is a hobby like golf or bridge. How much would you expect to get when you sold your used golf clubs?

Last yearu2019s bridge club membership? You could put the whole collection up on eBay, as a single lot, with a few of the better stamps and several random* pages pictured. You have 12 free Gallery pictures and can add more in your description if you like.

Choose a price that is a bit higher than you want to get, add Best Offer, and have a firm idea of the lowest price you would be content to accept. List as Fixed Price/Immediate Payment Required and add any questions and your answers to the listing if some come in. Know how much you will be paying for tracked shipping.

If you inherited the collection, look for a dealeru2019s card or letterhead that the collector bought from and make an appointment for an appraisal. Then continue with the steps above. Iu2019ve written exhaustively about how to get a useful appraisal.

If the u201ccollectionu201d is a shoebox or even a suitcase of unmounted stamps, pass it to a young collector. The chances of there being anything worth more than catalogue value is very small.*The first page of a given country, preferably a First World nation, would be my choice.

Can a group of animals or individual life forms show a level of collective "consciousness" just as unconscious cells in an animal become conscious?

It depends on how you define self awareness. The most practical definition would entail something that can perceive the world, and form a mental model of it, including its own place in the world.

You can drop the last clause if you are trying to discuss a broader concept. A single cell can sometimes perceive it's environment and react to it, but it lacks any ability to model the world. Its too simple, there is no mechanism present for it.

A multicelled organism of sufficient complexity can form a model of the world, using its brain. The complex interconnections of neurons are capable of storing the needed information. When you move up to a species, in order for it to have its own awareness, as opposed to an awereness belonging to it's members, it has to be able to store this information across members of the species.

They must interact to represent information, as neurons interact. While it's not inconceivable that a species can develop such a set of interactions, it would not be something innate to being a species, no more than it is innate to being multicellular. And some species show signs in that direction.

I've seen it suggested that an ant colony is functionally a single superorganism, complete with a mind of sorts arising out of the actions of individual ants. This doesn't extend to the entire species though. Its only a single colony, where the ants are in direct communication with each other.

To make a claim that all species (or even any species) is conscious, you would need evidence. A proposed mechanism, evidence of the effects of this, something. Otherwise, it's just a random thought with no more merit than "what if rocks are conscious"

What is it that engineering students in India are collectively doing wrong?

Kabil bano, Kamyabi jhak marke piche aayegiWhat is the use of being an engineer when you cant even design a simple frame or solve a simple calculus problem? Most of the fresh engineers (except those coming from IITs, NITs or other top institutes) dont even have clue what they studied past four years. Why will the company hire you when you dont even have the minimum required fundamental knowledge?

Sadly, most of the students passing std. XII science dont even know why they want to be an engineer. They simply go with the flow and end up in some Changulal Bangulal Institute of Technology where they simply dont know what they are studying or perhaps dont care to know!

Except few, most of the engineering students enjoy the college life and these are the ones who get screwed up after the college life and later complain there are no jobs for engineers. Jobs are there but only for talented engineers, not for mediocre engineers as Ranchod Das Chanchad in 3 idiot movie rightly said "Beta, Kabil bano, Kamyabi jhak marke piche aayegi".Its high time for engineering students to realize that engineering is not about getting first class or distinction engineering degree but to learn and develop skill sets.

Jobs dont come easy. A company will hire you only if you have required skill-sets. Just two days back I read, a fresh engineer from Mumbai got hired by Google for a whopping 1.

2 Crore Rupees/annum package. He wasnt from IIT or NIT but he had excellent skill sets to be hired! So if you have skill sets, jobs will find you!

What's so wrong with being a member of the Borg collective, anyway?

Nothing.

The Borg are Roddenberryu2019s ideal society. After all, they are in effect a single unit, looking after one another - as it were. And they certainly donu2019t need money.

Maybe personal freedom, including the freedom to disagree with the Cardassians and say u201cthere are four lights !u201d is as much of a needless luxury as money or a bank account. It is hugely inefficient and disruptive and thus, an obstacle to the perfection the Borg long to give to others.

The Borg Collective is the perfect union of the one with the many, so the moral problem raised by Vulcan ethics, of how to reconcile the needs of u201cthe manyu201d with those of u201cthe few - or the oneu201d, is solved. The Borg take the artificial things provided by replicators one step further. Rather than organic living things using artifiicial things, they make even the organic living things artificial.

Why have humans using replicated food, when the food can be dispensed with by assimilating the humans, so that they wonu2019t need it ? Humans function so inefficiently and wastefully - the Borg have the solution to those problems. They are the logical next step for Starfleet.

No wonder Starfleet dreads them. The logical course, is for Starfleet to contact the Borg, and to request assimilation. The Borg are logical, like the Vulcans, & are great warriors, like the Romulans and Klingons.

They embody the values all these races say they admire. The perfect universe is a universe assimilated by the Borg.ufeffBeing assimilated may be painful, but these other societies tolerate pain so as to attain the ends they value - just as the Botg do

What is the best classical music collection?

I first became a classical music fan when I was just a teenager about 50 years ago , and eventually became a professional classical musician . My tastes in classical music are extremely eclectic . I listen to opera, symphonies, miscellaneous orchestral works, concertos, chamber music, choral works , German lieder , ballet music , chamber music from all periods going back centuries to the present day .

I know all the most famous classical works by the most famous composers intimately , but am very interested in lesser known works .My CD collection reflects this . I donu2019t have recordings of some of the most famous works, not because I donu2019t love them, but because I know them so well and donu2019t feel a need for them .

I have a lot of obscure but interesting music by so many composers , famous and not so famous . In addition to music by such household names as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven,Tchaikovsky , Ravel and others , I have a lot of really interesting music by composers youu2019ve probably never heard of : listing at random : Mily Balakirev , Wilhelm Stenhamar , Josef Suk (rhymes with book ) , Zdenek Fibich , Franz Schmidt , Albert Roussel , Antonio Carlos Gomes, Nikolai Medtner, Paul Creston, Havergal Brian , Charles Koechlin , Arnold Bax, Ferruccio Busoni , Karol Szymanowski , Rued Laangaard , Nikolai Myaskovsky , Alexander von Zemlinsky , Sergei Taneyev, Anton Rubinstein , Vincent Du2019Indy , Max Reger, Arthur Bliss, Walter Braunfels , Franz Berwald , Johan Svendsen , E.J.

Moeran , Franz Berwald , Ernst Toch, Unno Klami and John Alden Carpenter .These composers come from countries as diverse as Germany , Austria, France, Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland, England, the U. S.

A. , Mexico, Brazil, Finland, Denmark, Sweden , and elsewhere . They wrote a lot of cool music , recordings of it are available, and some classical music fans are familiar with it

What are good metrics to collect for mobile app analytics?

As a product manager, I would always want to have stats or app insights to help me priortize the roadmap on:(1) User experience & design improvement(2) See if my sign up conversion is having some kind of issues.(3) if my app is having multiple features and I am promoting a few of them, I would like to know if there are any discoverability challenges(4) Alternatively I would see what are the top most visted features and where my subs/users are spending most of the time(5) I would also be intereted in knowing where is my maximum exit happenning & Why ?(6) What is the first action my app users do on the landing page ?

(7) If it is an HTML5 app, what is the speed of openning up and post sign up, how much time it would take for providing the first result to the end user.(8) I would like to catch the PUSH notification entry, to understand if my frequency of sending push notifications is actually bringing back the users to my app.(9) Conversions/Goals if there are selling/IAP options(10) Though it is provided, however I would like to know what % of my users are actually using landscape or portrait view.

( saves a lots of engineering effort at times)(11) The traditional events like Page Names & event names and the frequencies of those events while in the same sessions etc.(12) Generally it is advisable to have User Segmentation based on analystics and then strategize to increase CLTV and decrease the churnThere are much more depending upon what kind of app it is and what are the top goals that you are trying to acheive.
